SJ Tucker Concert

SJ Tucker          SJ TUCKER

On Saturday, April 4th, from 8 pm to 10 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Lawton, S.J. Tucker will be in live and in concert!

“Tucker is not only fantastic; she’s like a character out of a fantasy novel. She weaves myth and magic into her lyrics as easily as a strain of cello, a lick of something electric, the chuffing of a train engine…Tucker has a knack – no, a genius – for weaving old ways with new.”

-C. S. E.

“One of the foremost songwriters in the world of cabaret, Mythpunk, Faerie, Pagan, and general kickassery, S. J. has released over ten albums and isn’t stopping anytime soon!  If you like silly, sweet, fierce, funny, magical, mythical music, then S. J. Tucker is sure to enchant you.”

Join us for what is sure to be a magical, mystical, entertaining evening. The doors open at 7:30 pm.  Church youth will sell refreshments, and the proceeds from those sales go to the church.  Sooj will have CD’s and other lovely merchandise available.

Tickets can be purchased online by clicking on this link.

**NOTE: if space allows, tickets will be sold at the door as well: $25 for adults, $10 for youth ages 8-18, and $10 for students with valid campus ID.

Come Learn And Celebrate

article 1

Each Sunday we gather together to celebrate the mystery of life and the warmth of community. Our community is made up of people from all walks of life, and we have members who believe in specific spiritual or religious teachings, as well as humanist and secular philosophies. We have those who believe in a personal God, a transcendent God, no God at all, and those who simply say, "I don't know." What binds us together is not our individual beliefs, but our support of one another in our individual quests for truth and celebration of life, our common belief that we should strive for social justice for all, and our common goal of working to make the world a better place, here and now.

Our Adult Forum begins at 9:30 AM and is a time for discussion of a wide variety of topics, which could range from the news of the day to studying different religions to discussing humanist or religious philosophy. At 10:30 AM, our Sunday service begins, and since we choose not to have a minister, we feature various speakers who will talk to us about various subjects. Our speakers consist of university professors, psycholgists, philosophers, UU ministers, ministers and religious leaders from other traditions, and many others. After our services, we hold a "talk back" session where the members of our congregation have the opportunity to pose questions to the speakers, to ask for clarification, or even to challenge the speaker on a statement he or she made during the talk. We consider this a time of celebration, learning, and community.
